The coast is clear Bedford to Brighton from 19 May 2012 when we begin running rail services through the heart of London again at nights and weekends, offering uninterrupted journeys between Bedford and Brighton. That brings to an end 3.5 years of sustained cross-London engineering work and reopens Blackfriars at the weekends as well as Farringdon and (on Saturdays) City Thameslink.
The first longer 12-carriage trains are now in service calling at a new ticket hall at Farringdon (where there is a new ticket office) and a new entrance on the South Bank at Blackfriars. Blackfriars Tube station has reopened after extensive improvements and there is a new station building at West Hampstead Thameslink.

However, the last elements of the building work at Blackfriars and Farringdon may affect your journey. Our straight-talking website gives you the latest news and suggests how best to get you where you want. Please check it regularly and sign up for our email alerts.
The Thameslink Programme will transform the Thameslink route. New air-conditioned Electrostar carriages have already been added to the train fleet, reducing overcrowding in the rush hour. And in the long term there will be more capacity, more destinations, better stations, and - from the end of 2018 - a train through central London every 2-3 minutes.
